Peel bananas from the bottom (the end opposite the stem) to avoid bruising and make it easier to open.
Most people instinctively try to peel a banana from the stem end. This often results in squishing the fruit and struggling to break the tough stem. Monkeys, however, naturally peel bananas from the bottom. The bottom end has a small, dark tip. Pinch this tip firmly between your fingers. It should split open, allowing you to easily peel the banana skin down in sections, just like peeling an orange. This method is much easier, especially if the banana is slightly green, and it significantly reduces the chance of bruising the fruit.
If the bottom tip is too hard to pinch open, gently roll the banana on a hard surface before attempting to peel it. This can help loosen the peel without damaging the fruit inside.
